Along with submitting college applications, keeping up grades, doing extracurricular activities, and maintaining a social life, Year IIs are faced with raising money for the senior trip, prom and graduation. The Year II Committee was formed to ensure that these momentous events run smoothly.

BHSEC’s 26-Tree Initiative

As part of Mayor Bloomberg’s incentive to plant 1 million trees in New York City by 2017, BHSEC recently planted 26 trees in its yard. Funded by NYC Parks and the New York Restoration Project (a charity founded by Bette Midler), the city’s arboreal initiative, called PlaNYC, is part of a larger plan of 127 proposals for a greener city that was unveiled by Mayor Bloomberg in 2007.
Freshman Perform on Stage for their First Time at BHSEC

On Friday, November 13, the 9th grade class enjoyed seven short plays, all written and performed by their peers. The first-quarter Intro to Theatre class presented final composition pieces with assistance from the Epic Theatre Ensemble, a group dedicated to working with Off-Broadway productions and NYC Public Schools.

Season Cut Short For Both Bard Soccer Teams

Although both the girls and boys soccer teams had great seasons they were cut short by playoff losses. The girls got further than ever before in the A division and the boys lost only in overtime. Both matches were fought hard and, despite the end result, proved the strength of Bard’s soccer program.

Raptors Crush Their 2nd Round Opponent and Prepare to Play Jefferson

Last week, The Bard Raptors had their second round playoff game. Beating Hunter High School in the first round 2-0, Bard was more than ready to play against Grand Street Campus who finished second in their division. Although it was raining heavily before the game, Bard was prepared for the challenge. All the players were fired up, knowing full well that every game in the playoffs could be their last.
